Profile
The Omba Arts Trust is an independent, non-profit Namibian initiative that aims to contribute to the development of the Namibian craft sector through the marketing and promotion of crafts.

The Trust is the successor of the Rössing Foundation’s extensive craft development programme and builds on its 15 years of experience and partnerships with sister organizations.  The Omba Arts Trust comprises the Namibia Crafts Centre, Mud Hut Trading and the Omba Gallery.

Mud Hut Trading was started in 1992 to support rural producers. The organization works with over 20 small groups and enterprises in several regions of Namibia.

As a member of NACSO, Mud Hut Trading supports groups in several conservancies. Its input revolves around design and product development and a large range of products that are available at the retail outlet in the Namibia Craft Centre. Mahangu paper products, original Namibian textiles, sand-decorated candles and a wide range of baskets are just a few of the products you will find at Mud Hut Trading.

Many of the groups supported by Mud Hut Trading operate their own bank accounts and have developed skills and systems to manage the supply chain, often from fairly remote areas.

Mud Hut Trading assists producer groups with design, product development and marketing as well as capacity building.  As a Fair Trade organization its aim is to market and promote Fair Trade and trading partnerships.
