FADECO is a local Non Government Organization (NGO) registered under the Societies Ordinance of the United Republic of Tanzania on 27th February 1996.it is Non Denominational, Non Sectarian and Non Political organization. It is strictly a Humanitarian and Ecumenical development organization.

Its main target group is grassroots community, FADECO is a service organization. It is led by a small team of technical persons. FADECO has its head office and main area of operation in Karagwe district, Kagera region, Tanzania. Its head office is located at Kyanyamisa Station, Nyakasimbi Village (37 Km from Kayanga, the district Headquarters). It has a logistical office at Kayanga which has connection to both electricity from the grid and to telephone facilities. FADECO belongs to several Local and International Networks of NGOs. On the district level, it belongs to the Karagwe District Network of Voluntary Organizations (KADENVO).

Since 1995 FADECO has worked in Karagwe district, building small solar dryers designed to dry fruits, vegetables and spices without the use of chemical nor added sugars. They have concentrated their work in the rural areas where there are assured of adequate food production but with pronounced crop loss due to limited food preservation and storage mechanisms. Good quality and pesticide free fruits are plentiful.

FADECO has a solar fruit drying technology which is simple enough to be built using local materials and skills, it is cheap and easy to maintain. Once running, a solar dryer produces a good source of income for local people especially, the women. They have to date, set up a solar drying chain among some farmers who now produce and sell their sun dried produce on a Fair Trade basis.

FADECO is intended not only to bring regular cash to their owners, but also bring useful foreign exchange to their country, so helping their nation's reliance on a single export commodity, coffee. RIFT VALLEY FOODS is the brand name for all food products marketed by FADECO TRADING Co. Ltd. FADECO has specialised in producing mainly Solar dried fruits such as sweet apple, Bananas, Pineapples, Mangoes, tomatoes and paw paws.
