Profile
San Arts and Crafts is a wholesale marketing arm for crafts sourced by other members of the Kuru Family of Organisations (KFO). It is based in Ghanzi and is a registered private company. San Arts and Crafts objective is to establish and maintain a viable and profitable market channel for products made by the San (Bushmen) and other marginalised people in Ghanzi, Kgalagadi and Ngamiland provinces in order to provide them with an additional income.

San Arts and Crafts is the only member of KFO that is a private company as it operates as a commercial enterprise with the aim of not relying on donor funds. The reason for this is to provide a reliable and sustainable outlet for the craft producers in the areas covered by KFO independent of a continuing need for donor subsidisation. San Arts and Crafts pricing is therefore driven by the usual commercial factors of market supply and demand.

Gantsi Craft is their main buying organisation providing ostrich eggshell products such as jewellery and belts, leather work such as dancing skirts and bags, and hunting equipment such as bows and arrows all from the San communities in the Ghanzi and Kgalagadi districts.

These are mainly the beautiful Ngamiland baskets but recently they have expanded their craft support and are now sourcing Khwe baskets, greetings cards and some wood products such as drums and thumb pianos.
