Profile
Created by Rose Roques in 1979, Rosecraft began as a hobby and is now a thriving weaving and mohair business. The workshop, in the Makungutjcha Mountains enthralls visitors with breathtaking views and is well worth a day visit.

Mohair and other natural fibers including wool, cotton, silk and bamboo are processed by hand on looms unchanged since Biblical times.
The colors of Rosecraft are famous and the fine fabrics, garments and tableware are individually handcrafted works of art.

All designs and colors are inspired by the rich Swazi cultural heritage. Rosecraft participates in many community projects including clean water, clinics and HIV education.
The Process
Angora goats are shorn of their luxurious mohair

The raw mohair is then teased, cleaned and carded before being handspun into a strong, fine yarn.

The yarn is dyed in big cooking pots over a wood fire. All the exquisite colors are created from the primary colors of red, blue and yellow. Only the highest quality Swiss dyes are used and all yarn is mothproofed to maintain the high standard of Rosecraft quality.

Finally the yarn is woven on traditional flying shuttle looms into exciting, unique fabrics, garments and tableware, in demand worldwide. Rosecraft combines the dynamic warmth of African color with sophisticated European designs.

Carpets are woven on large gum pole frame looms that reach high up into the roof.
